Is There a Connection Between Mental Health and Faith
Hello, Hello, Hello Pattern Realm,
Today I want to answer the question Is there a connection between Mental Health and Faith? But I want to do it in a Socratic way.
'there is no yes no toggle switch
'it depends is considered not an answer
'the answer lies within this equation Needs*Faith=Motivation
I will attempt to answer this question using insights from the passage of 2nd Corinthians chapter 12: 5-10
No one really knows what the apostle Paul's Thorn in the flesh was. But when I began to study the passage in-depth beginning in February of 2000 I began to conclude in my own self that it was some form of mental anguish. I have believed that my thorn in the flesh is loneliness. However this gave me a thirst to be more like heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. 6 months later I began a serious study of the doctrines of the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and thus begin the answer of how to alleviate my foreign in the flesh.
Whatever it be whether a physical disability or mental illness or both God doesn't always remove that born in the flesh. He alleviates it. No one knows what the apostle Paul's Born in the flesh was but the fact of the matter is we can still learn that we each have one.
Bible scholars in the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints believe that Paul spoke of the foreign in the flesh metaphorically to represent suffering.
So is there a connection between mental health and faith? I have discovered that through my church attendance and evenings with the missionaries that there is a deep connection but you must draw your own conclusions
In Christ
